Obedience Training
Establishing basic commands and creating an understanding relationship between dog and owner
Owning a dog should not be a headache.
You should be able to enjoy the time spent with the dog whether you are out on a walk, going on a ride or just chilling out at the house. Dogs aren't born knowing how to handle these tasks.
Just putting your dog through an obedience program will make a much more confident dog who is ready to take on any experience you throw at him.
Our program is a 4 to 6 week board and train program. Some dogs complete it in 4 others may take a little longer. We want you to be happy with the product we put out and will make sure it happens.
At Shady Acres, our program is based on three commands -
1) Here -
The dog must come when called. This will keep the dog out of dangerous situations and allow you to recall the dog when you need to.
2) Sit -
Sit not only means what we usually think sit means but it also means not to go anywhere to move until asked to. We have taken the word STAY out of the vocabulary. Sit means sit and stay until I give you another command.
3) Heel -
Heel has two meanings for the dog. Heel means come to my side ( either left or right depending on your preference) and it also means walk with me calmly and not pull on the leash.
From these three commands, we can now teach the dog to be a good family member. How to sit to be fed, how to wait and walk through doors when given permission and not try and knock you down. How to load up into the car or crate or kennel. How to lay down on a bed and chill out while we are watching tv or having dinner.
One of the biggest things that makes our program special is that we teach you how to handle the dog.
We want you to come and train with us as we train you and the dog. Ultimately this is your dog and you have to know how to communicate to each other. If you have questions about our Program, please feel free to give us a call, we are glad to answer any questions you many have.

My Boykin Oakley is a Shady Acres puppy and both he and Molly have been trained by Wes. Not only is Wes a great trainer but he, Stacy and the boys are the some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
